Meisner Intensive Interview with Sara Kohler - Maggie Flanigan Studio - Call 917-789-1599In this interview with Katie, Sara Kohler talks about the Meisner Summer Intensive at the Maggie Flanigan Studio.

The Meisner Intensive supplies pupils with all the ability to experience what this means to train as a professional celebrity. In this interview, Sara talks about her expertise in the six-week summer intensive and how it was different than what she formerly believed the professional training was like.

Q: What did you believe acting training was the Six Week Summer Intensive before you started?

A: I though that training that is acting was a large amount of what I did in school. I didnt think it was crucial for me personally. As for me, I believed that I ‘d it down, I knew what I had been doing and I thought that perhaps in New York, training meant doing scene study workshops and taking classes with other folks simply to say that youre practicing and rehearsing, doing work and training. I didnt know what training so coming here and actually meant, and learning the beginning of the Meisner technique, I started to understand that training was nothing that I thought it was. Its merely a brand new way of working that I’d never even thought of and I was trying to step into these characters in my personal scene study classes that I ‘d no notion how to step into. I ‘d no technique and I didnt understand what I had been doing. Coming here Ive started to learn the way to work and Ive already learned.

Q: What happened during the Meisner Summer Intensive that changed your view on training?

A: Well, I was starting to learn what training truly meant, first of all and I learned that clearly I didnt know what I was doing and what really changed for me was that I understood that I wasnt listening in scenes and I wasnt really taking in and it wasnt just about what had been said to me it was about the way that it was being said if you ask me and Id never thought of that before for some reason. I was merely always waiting for my cue and saying a line the way that I had rehearsed it and that I thought Id done homework on and really I didnt even learn the way to do homework, which will be insane. Just thinking back to the summertime, how much Ive come is astonishing and it really, truly altered my life.

Q: What occurred during the Six Week Meisner Intensive that you learned about yourself you altered or that surprised you?

A: I was surprised to think back on those roles that Ive understood and played that I had no idea what I used to be doing. With the Meisner technique you actually start to comprehend what its like to craft and create a situation and also a character, I didnt have a technique, I didnt know the way to even prepare for a function and I didnt have training and live through something. I was just so shocked and its almost laughable to think about the items that I did before this. Its difficult for me to believe individuals have seen me and its embarrassing to be somewhat sincere.
